There’s a lot we love about the cities of Plano, Midlothian and Arlington, so we’ve narrowed down our favorite places to play, shop and dine next time you find yourself in the area.
Places We Love: Plano
Initially established as a remote farming community, Plano has since transformed into a desirable suburb, commonly referred to by its residents as the “City of Excellence.” Plano boasts great schools, a rich history and the headquarters of over 25 American companies, such as JC Penney, Dr Pepper and Frito Lay.
Play
Get a group together and head to PINSTACK for a day of unforgettable fun. With a 28-lane bowling alley, two-story laser tag arena and a soaring 20-foot high ropes course, there is something for everyone within the 50,000 square foot complex. Everything is bigger in Texas, right?
Historic Downtown Plano is the heart of the city’s history, with buildings dating as far back as 1896. Today, Downtown Plano houses many bars, cafes, restaurants and offices in the restored buildings. Take a leisurely walk through the six blocks of the district and enjoy the antique aesthetic of the original buildings that remain.
Shop
The Shops at Legacy is an urban lifestyle center that stands out for its award-winning restaurants, bars and upscale boutiques. With many corporate headquarters relocating to West Plano, the Shops at Legacy serves as a community base with countless options for everyone. Make it a full-day affair by shopping in the daytime before ending the night with dinner and a movie at the Angelika Theater.
Dine
Be sure your out-of-state friends and family do not leave Texas without experiencing authentic Texas barbeque! Head to Kenny’s Smokehouse and indulge in ribs, brisket, sausage and more. Kenny’s Smokehouse is also a full-service restaurant, so you can enjoy quality customer service and delicious cocktails in a comfortable environment.
Places We Love: Midlothian
In addition to its convenient distance from both Dallas and Fort Worth, Midlothian appeals to residents with its small-town feel, tight-knit community events and picturesque parks. Midlothian is also known for its role in cement production, with its three large cement facilities informally naming the town the “Cement Capital of Texas.”
Play
Observe beautiful flowers, butterflies and bluebirds at the scenic Mockingbird Nature Park. This vast 62-acre park features a boardwalk, hiking trails and a native grass area to allow you to explore and fully surround yourself with nature’s sensations.
Shop
Get a head start on your Saturday with a visit to the Downtown Farmers Market in Heritage Park. Watch the community come together at this open-air market while browsing for meats, jams, fresh fruits and vegetables.
Dine
Bellucci’s Italian is the newest restaurant in town and has already made its mark on Midlothian with its great service and authentic Italian food. Its founder comes from a long lineage of chefs, following in the footsteps of his parents’ Italian restaurants in both Arlington and Mansfield.
Places We Love: Arlington
If you have lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex for a while, chances are you have visited one of Arlington’s premier entertainment districts. It is home to Six Flags Over Texas, AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park and UT Arlington, one of Texas’s largest universities. With its big-city feel and amusement for all ages, Arlington is a perfect day-trip destination.

Nothing feels better than a day at the ballpark! Head over to Globe Life Park and catch the Texas Rangers in action this summer. Enjoy the ease of a Texas evening at this open stadium with family and friends, and of course, the classic hot dogs and peanuts.
